Mission Accomplished

November 20th, 2009

We are continually sourcing and testing new fabrics, some of which are amazing, and others…well…let’s just say there have been candidates that would receive “no credit” if they were students at Brown. In October 2009 our persistence paid off, as we finally found several fabrics that are fully functional. Now it’s all about refining them to make the best underwear ever (of course nothing beats a birthday suit, but Sexy Period might just be the next best thing).

Here I am below checking out fabric in one of our supplier’s sample room.

Champagne toast

Eulie cake

Last Friday Emily hosted a champagne toast in our honor, as we recently received additional funding which allows us to work full-time on Eulie! Kristin and Sharon (my wonderful housemates pictured below) made the underwear-themed cake, which was accompanied by chocolate covered strawberries, brownies and cookies.

Eunice and I cut the cake together as if we were at a wedding (we spend so much time together that we practically are married, although Eunice’s boyfriend Tai-Sen might get in the way of that actually happening).  The right hand photo below shows me with Emily, the hostess-with-the-mostess!

Our first sewing attempt

November 20th, 2009

We decided to sew a few prototypes ourselves…I mean, how hard could it be to make underwear, right? After 8 hours of drawing, pinning, and sewing, we realized it’s actually quite difficult. Eunice and I created patterns, sewed an initial fit prototype, tried it on, realized we underestimated the amount of fabric needed (are our butts really that big?), revised the pattern a couple more times, and finally made a wearable panty. The entire process made us appreciate our pattern maker’s expertise….SO glad that we have her to make the actual patterns! I thought my experience in high school designing and sewing my prom dress would help, but underwear is a whole different ballgame…

A visit to the CURVExpo in NY

November 20th, 2009

Eunice & Julie

We made the trip to New York for the CURVExpo a few months ago, the premier US trade show for lingerie. The day started out with a 13 block walk (in high heels) since we couldn’t find a parking spot anywhere nearby (oh how I love driving in NY!). Once inside, we saw about 250 brands exhibiting their collections for the spring/summer 2010 season. Lots of bright colors, lace, and v-shaped waistbands. We hope to have a booth at CURVE next summer for SEXY. PERIOD.! In the evening, there was a runway show with several French lingerie brands. Here are a few photos…
