Up, up and away!

February 11th, 2010

It was one of those days. The kind where there’s endless possibility but you don’t know what’s in store quite yet. This particular day was made special because it was our first business trip on a plane. But even more noteworthy, it was the birthday of an amazing, opinionated, pink-high-heel-wearing chica (if you couldn’t tell by now, that would be Eunice). We left Providence at 5:30am and spent the entire day visiting a cut and sew facility. Seeing so many different sewing machines in motion at once is almost magical. It’s as if you can make any garment if you can dream it. Think lace, chiffon, silk, sequins, satin, …..and spandex! Don’t worry, we’re not going to put sequins on our underwear (although we welcome crazy ideas, so send us your dream underwear requests!).  Here’s a photo of us below before the first plane ride.

Fly away

The case of the missing underwear

The other day I unlocked my mailbox hoping as usual for at least one large white envelope containing tried-and-true Eulie Test Panties. What a find! There were three test packages inside. I opened the first package to start entering test results, but when I looked inside, there was only one pair and the second was nowhere to be found. I sent an SOS email to our tester, who confirmed that she did indeed put TWO pairs in before mailing the package. So…the question arose: Had the underwear fallen out along the way? Or had someone heard how amazing Eulie Test Panties are so they decided to swipe a pair for themselves?

I decided this necessitated a trip down to the central post office to investigate. The lady at the information desk informed me that I would need to contact the national claims office in Florida about lost items because “we have so many items that get lost in the mail, no one would remember if they had seen it in the Providence office.” Of course she didn’t know that the item in question was underwear, which I imagine would be pretty memorable to see if it slipped out of a package you were about to deliver. Upon hearing this, she took my business card and assured me a quick phone call if she heard any rumors about it.

Next I decided our postman might have some useful insight. I ran into him a couple days later and awkwardly conveyed the plea that we had lost Test Pair #117….by chance had he seen it? Yessssss! He confirmed that it had been spotted at the downtown post office, but our dear pair #117 had been mistaken as a practical joke. We said a prayer for its well-being, and asked if he could try to find it. A few days later, our mystery was solved. Sad news = someone threw them away. Yes. For real. RIP Eulie Test Pair #117. Case closed.
